The McIntosh Lady Chiefs finished their second season on a three game winning streak. On Wednesday, they traveled to Rockdale and won handily, 17-11. Strong performances were turned in by sophomoresTaylor Lugash with 5 goals and 3 assists, and Kelly Polo with 4 goals and 1assist. Senior Dani Maskery had 3 goals and 1 assist, and junior Brit LaPalm scored 2 goals and 1 assist. The offensive barrage was rounded out by scoring from sophomores Katie Dew, Christen Downing, and freshman Elizabeth Langley, and an assist from sophomore Abby Biles. Defensively, the Lady Chiefs had another strong game from junior Kristen Lein, senior Laurel Briglevich, Downing, and freshman Ava Steinbrenner, with junior Lauren Schindler stopping 7 shots on goal. On Thursday, the Lady Chiefs, cheered on by a boisterous green and black painted crowd, upset a tough Blessed Trinity team 9-7. Led by their seniors, Dani Maskery, Laurel Briglevich, Brittany Beard, Katie Biles, and Leigh Baldwin, the Lady Chiefs wound up their season 4-9-1. Taylor Lugash had another outstanding all around effort with a goal and an assist as well as controlling most of the face-offs. Dani Maskery ended her senior year with 4 goals and 1 assist to bring her team leading points total to 34. Following close behind was Brit LaPalm with 3 goals to bring her season total to 23 points, tying her with Taylor Lugash for second on the team. Elizabeth Langley also tallied 1 goal with Leigh Baldwin and Cailyn Worley contributing an assist apiece. This game was a true team effort, and although the defenders names are seldom seen on the goal and assist totals, their contributions were vital to this win. Turning back Blessed Trinity's high powered offense time and again, creating turnovers, and picking up ground balls were Laurel Briglevich, Kristen Lein, Maegan Harrison, Christen Downing, Ava Steinbrenner, and Abby Biles. Lauren Schindler had perhaps her best game of the season stopping 7 shots on goal, including several free position shots. login to post comments |
