Thespians among us . . .

Despite a reputation as a conservative community, Fayette County has quite a number of thespians living here. These thespians are not quiet about who they are, either; some are quite proud to flaunt their thespian preferences.

They are quite open and comfortable about inviting people to watch them perform in public. You might be amazed to know that some of these thespian performances are even open to children!

Just about every week one can read about these thespians in The Citizen newspaper. Publisher Cal Beverly obviously has a soft spot for thespians as his paper regularly gives free publicity to promote thespians and their flamboyant public performances.

Given his constant fixation, one could easily surmise that Mr. Beverly is something of a repressed thespian himself.

Some thespians claim that they had no choice in the matter, that they were somehow “born to be a thespian.”

A quick perusal of the local Yellow Pages will prove that to be nothing but hogwash. There are more than a few “thespian academies” and “thespian studios” that will take regular God-fearing people and train them to be full-time practicing thespians.

I’m not against the thespian lifestyle; in fact, one of my relatives is a life-long practicing thespian. I simply wanted to point out that the number of thespians in America is growing daily, especially in this hotbed of thespian activity, Fayette County.

The editor replies, with some shame, that indeed he has severely repressed his thespian tendencies, but believes that his loss is the world’s gain.
