Robert Edward Carroll Jr., 78, Fairburn, died April 17, 2006. He was born May 6, 1927 in East Point, Ga. He was founder of Carroll Tire Company, which evolved from a single retail location in Hapeville to one of the nation’s largest wholesale distributors of private and major brand tires. Services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley chapel with the Rev. Darwin Caldwell officiating. Interment was at College Park Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Betty Mobley Carroll; daughters, Susie Watts, Newnan, and Sallie Thompson, Peachtree City; grandchildren, Angie, Jenny, and Bobby; and great-grandchildren, Drew, and Erin.
