The McIntosh Chiefs varsity baseball team picked up a much needed region win Wednesday night by defeating Sandy Creek 9-7. Brendan Hall got the win, pitching five and one-thirds of an inning and striking out nine batters. Hall also aided his cause by hitting a two run home run in the first inning.

The Chiefs got five runs in the first inning as Johnny Peadon, Jake Tanis and Cameron Rich joined Hall by driving in runs. Tanis drove in another run in the second inning while Rich drove in his second RBI in the third. John Riccitelli drove in a run in the fourth and Tanis hit a two out home run in the inning as well to account for the final McIntosh runs of the evening. The Patriots scored six runs in the sixth inning, thanks to some sloppy defense from the Chiefs. Jarrod Parker came in to pitch in relief of Hall, getting the final two outs in the sixth and shutting down Sandy Creek with a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the seventh.
McIntosh (9-10) will host Whitewater tonight at 7 p.m., while Sandy Creek (13-6) will host Woodward Academy.

In 4-AAAAA play, Starr’s Mill (20-0) remained perfect with an 8-7 win over Union Grove. Starr’s Mill hosts Mundy’s Mill tonight at 7 p.m. and will play at Lovejoy on Monday at 6 p.m. Perhaps the biggest game of the regular season will come next Wednesday when they host East Coweta at 5:30 p.m.
