Lady Indians

Coach Franklin DeLoach’s East Coweta softball team was impressive this past weekend in Tifton. Outstanding pitching by Salena Martin and Amber May gave up only three runs (one earned ) to secure their first ever trip to the Elite Eight. A solid defense led by Stephanie Rinaldi, Jordan Martin, and Amanda Crow, have been almost flawless on the infield in leading the Indians to their second consecutive number one seed in the region tournament and their fourth consecutive trip to the South Sectionals (their only four trips).

Chelsie Deegan, Lacey Pierce and Kayla Baugh have been strong in the outfield and thus it is hard to score on the Indians. This past week end in the South Sectional they defeated Groves, 7-0, beat Lowdnes County, 2-1, lost to Union Grove 1-0 on a late inning home run and defeated Houston County 6-1 to secure their place in the Elite Eight. Trish Davis led off with a single in the top of the first and three batters later Cristen Robinson blasted a grand slam home run.

The Lady Indians opened play in the Elite Eight yesterday against Sequoyah in Columbus. They are currently 20-8.
