The curtain’s going up on Newnan Theatre Company’s production of “Sylvia” this weekend. The cast, Scott Pollak, KC Pollak, Rick Olsen and Rachael Shaw, along with director Joey Cleary have been fine-tuning the show and are ready to unleash this uproarious comedy.
Written by A.R. Gurney, the play follows the series of events that happen when a stray dog with the name Sylvia engraved on its heart-shaped tag rocks a marriage of 22 years.
“Sylvia” was the first show at NTC that invited everyone in for a special premiere night performance on Thursday night. Audiences were able to see the show for half price while enjoying complimentary hot and cold hors d’oeuvres.
Tonight is opening night for “Sylvia,” and the special pricing, half price tickets as well as a 2-for-1 deal for season ticket holders, will be carried over to tonight’s show as well. “Sylvia” is an Artist Series show intended for mature audiences. It will be presented in NTC’s Black Box, so only about 50 seats will be available each night. Everyone is encouraged to call early for reservations.
“Sylvia” will be presented tonight through Sunday, April 28-30 and May 5-7. Friday and Saturday shows start at 8 p.m.; Sunday matinee performances begin at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens. Newnan Theatre Company, located at 24 First Avenue in Newnan, is handicapped accessible. For reservations, season tickets and more info, call 770-683-6282, email nctc@numail.org or visit www.newnantheatre.com.
