By next Sunday, Angela White will probably be taking a very deep breath. Coweta County’s Convention and Visitors Bureau director has been busy working 20-hour days in anticipation of next weekend’s Miss Georgia USA and Miss Georgia Teen USA Pageant in Newnan. “There are four shows during the pageant with a total capacity of 4,000. We’ve sold 2,890 tickets so far,” White said. For the first time, the pageant will be staged at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts. White said more than 160 delegates, along with hundreds of family and friends will attend the events. Preliminary and final competitions are slated for Nov. 4-5. Tickets are on sale at the Coweta County Welcome Center at 100 Walt Sanders Memorial Drive from Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Preliminary competition tickets are $20 and final pageant tickets are $30. Current Miss Georgia USA Tanisha Brito of Dunwoody and Miss Georgia Teen USA Katie Conkle of Hampton will be on hand to crown the newly selected winners at Saturday’s finals. Paul Ossmann, WXIA-TV 11Alive’s chief meteorologist, will emcee the program. White said she has already worked with groups from Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida who are coming to watch the pageant. She’s also contacted several area restaurants and beseeched them not to close early next Saturday. “The pageant gets over around 9:30 p.m. and those parents are going to want to take their daughters to dinner,” she said. login to post comments |
