Family History Basics classes will be offered in the evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. beginning Monday, Apr. 24, in Peachtree City.

For three years now, Sloan Superior Tutors has offered the six-session class through various venues. The new evening classes are designed to meet the schedules of those who prefer evening meetings.

The classes will take place at Dunlap Wealth Community Room in Georgian Park in Peachtree City. The first three classes will be Apr. 24, May 1, and May 15. A field trip to the National Archives in Morrow and two additional class sessions in Peachtree City will be scheduled to round out the six-session series.

Family History Basics is a beginner-oriented overview of genealogy and family history. The course explains how to get started in family research, where to look for your family’s history and how to make and organize research records. Birth, marriage and death records will be examined to see what clues they hold. The value of military records and censuses will be explored.

The course will also cover the use of the state and federal archives and how to do genealogical research on the internet.

Tuition for the six sessions is $80. Students are asked to register by Apr. 22.
