Anyone who has traveled the rolling hills of unincorporated South Fulton County in the past year has noticed the growing presence of residential communities in various stages of development. One of the more recent planned editions to the area is Hampton Oaks, being developed by KB Home in conjunction with television personality and entrepreneur Martha Stewart.

“Atlanta is a dynamic and fast growing city with a very diverse population,” said Stewart, founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. “We are very excited about participating in this growth by providing a new community of beautifully designed and sensibly appointed and affordably price homes in partnership with KB Home. This development of tasteful homes, set in a gorgeous area famous for its rolling hills, will be extremely appealing.”

Across Ga. Highway 92 from the Le Jardin development and approximately two miles north of South Fulton Parkway, Hampton Oaks is slotted for 800 homes, with construction of its seven model home styles underway and expected to be completed by mid-summer, according to KB Homes spokesperson Lindsay Stephenson. Landscaping packages designed by Stewart’s personal gardener will be available to KB Home homebuyers, she said.

“It’s a beautiful setting,” Stephenson said. “KB Home Hampton Oaks: Created with Martha Stewart is a perfect setting for South Fulton County.”

The development will feature nature trails and community gardens along with a clubhouse, fitness center, four tennis courts and a 2,500 square-foot swimming pool. An important aspect of the development, said Stephenson, is that one-third on the 480-acre development will remain open space.

As for the homes themselves, they will feature floor plans ranging from 1,864-4,624 square feet with prices from the low $200,000s to the low $400,000s. In keeping with the KB approach, Stephenson said home styles, floor plans, options and lots will be pre-selected by the buyer prior to construction. Essentially, she said, the homes are built to order.

Within the range of seven styles and 13 floor plans, the one and two-story homes will feature 3-5 bedrooms, 2.5-3 bathrooms and two-car garages.

KB Home develops residential properties across the United States and France. KB Home is a Fortune 500 company and was ranked the No. 1 homebuilder in Fortune Magazine’s 2006 list of America’s Most Admired Companies.
