Kids are ready for the TourMon, 04/17/2006 - 9:36am
By: The Citizen
Students of Lila Teal at Tyrone Elementary were the first children in the state to receive this year’s installment of the 2006 Ford Tour de Georgia educational booklet. They received this honor because Teal was an integral part of the booklet’s creation, writing content for the 18 page, full-color publication. The booklet goes to 20,000 students in select elementary schools in the host cities of this year’s Ford Tour de Georgia. Among the topics covered in the booklet are lessons on bike safety and maintenance, while also tying in to history, geography, science and math. In addition, all parents and teachers are invited to download the electronic version from the official event website in the Cycling 101 section: www.fordtourdegeorgia.com. In the educational booklet, children can fill out the Healthy Hunt form on the back page, and then submit the completed form at their nearest Live Healthy Georgia Expo during the Ford Tour de Georgia race week to enter a grand prize drawing for a brand new children's bicycle. If children and parents can't attend the Ford Tour de Georgia, them mail the Healthy Hunt form to the address below before April 23: Live Healthy Georgia, Georgia Department of Human Resources, Public Health, Suite 16-304, Atlanta, GA 30303-3142. login to post comments |
