“Miss” Relay Pageant

An exceptional group will compete for the 2nd annual “Miss” Relay crown on Saturday, April 15th at Whitewater High School.  The "Miss" Relay Pageant is a kick off event for the American Cancer Society’s annual Relay For Life.    The pageant is a fun way to raise public awareness of the Relay and raise additional monies for the teams who have contestants entered in the pageant.

What makes this beauty pageant unique is that almost all of the contestant’s beauty is from within.  Each male contestant has the beauty of spirit that allows them to give so uniquely to a cause, near and dear to their hearts.  The “Miss” Relay pageant is a beauty pageant for male contestants, dressed as women.  Each contestant will compete in a physical fitness event, an evening gown runway segment, and perform a talent.  This family friendly evening is sure to be a night full of laughter and good natured fun.  Contestants will also be competing for the title of "Miss" Congeniality.  "Miss" Congeniality will be voted on by the other contestants, just like a ‘real’ beauty pageant.  The “Miss” Relay 2006 title will be awarded to the contestant who earns the most donations from audience members at the pageant.  Crowning this year's "Miss" Relay will be "Miss" Relay 2005, Jay Bright.  Jay wooed the crowd last year with his ballet interpretation of Bette Midler’s The Rose.

Organizing the pageant again this year is Mahli Lowder, Entertainment Chairperson of Relay For Life - Fayette County.   Mahli is excited about this event and knows that those who attend will have a wonderful time and enjoy the opportunity to contribute to a really terrific cause.  Assisting Mahli again this year, will be members of the Fayette Beauty Academy who assist the contestants with makeup and hair.  The Whitewater High School Ambassadors will assist patrons at the event and local resident, Evan Stitt will return as emcee.  Tickets for the Miss Relay Pageant are on sale now.  Tickets cost $5.00 each and are available at the Fayetteville American Cancer Society Office located at 135 Bradford Square; you may purchase tickets from any Relay For Life Team Captain, or at the door - while supplies last.  Whitewater High School is located at 100 Wildcat Way in Fayetteville near the intersection of Georgia Highway 85 and Goza Road.

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life - Fayette County will be held on Friday, May 5th at the Kiwanis Fair Complex in Fayetteville. The public is encouraged to attend Relay For Life.  Come support all of the teams fighting the battle against cancer.  For more information about Relay For Life please contact Nychelle Williams, Senior Community Manager at 770-460-8920.
