For $35 diabetes donation, kids can spend no-school days at Velocity Sports Center

Parents wondering what to do with children suddenly out of school on a gas conservation holiday Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 26 and 27) have an option: Velocity Sports Center in Peachtree City.

According to Center executive Barry J. Falcon, Since schools are closed all kids can come to Velocity for the day. Bring their own lunch. Fun, sports, games, etc.

Theres one catch: A $35 Donation to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is required. Checks to JDRF or credit cards at www.michaelfalcon.com.

Falcon says the idea is to help the kids with Type 1 diabetes.

Velocity Sports Performance Center is at 297 Dividend Drive, Suite A, in Peachtree City. Phone 770-632-5432 for more information.

Fayette County schools are closed both Monday and Tuesday in response to Gov. Sonny Perdues call for state-wide fuel conservation efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Rita. The days off will be counted as snow days and will not have to be made up later. Cal Beverly. Posted Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, 6 p.m.
