Kip Dunlap and Lauren Russell, seniors at Sandy Creek High School, received recognition for their successes as individual delegates representing Haiti and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) at the Johns Hopkins University Model United Nations Conference in Baltimore, Maryland March 2-5. Although having competed in Georgia, this was Kip’s first national conference. His recognition as one of his committee’s four top delegates was an outstanding achievement. Lauren, also recognized last year as an outstanding delegate at the University of Chicago, received the Verbal Commendation from her committee. Kip plans to attend Georgia State University and Lauren will be enrolling at the College of William and Mary. Most major American universities now compete in national and international Model United Nations Conferences. Several Sandy Creek graduates have competed on university teams. All total, 51 students from Sandy Creek competed this year at Model UN Conferences held on the campuses of Georgia Tech, Georgia State and Johns Hopkins. login to post comments |
