The recent letter about the supposed “plight of the elderly whites” living in Village Park was very upsetting to many of our homeowners.

I understand that the letter writer was trying to defend some Village Park residents; however, I feel it only served to give us a very negative image.

The letter portrays us as all elderly people who are victimized and living in fear. This simply is not true.

This is a neighborhood of mostly active seniors along with some younger adults who are enjoying life in Village Park. Village Park has always been a highly sought-after place in which to live.

Our past boards of directors, as well as our current board have worked diligently to keep Village Park an attractive and safe neighborhood. I only hope the negative press doesn’t damage our good image.
