Fayette area Christians celebrate the resurrection of Our Lord, Jesus Christ

Pastors from seven Peachtree City churches will be speaking on The Seven Last Words of Christ at the annual community Good Friday service, held this year at noon at First Baptist Church, Willowbend Rd., Peachtree City.

This ecumenical gathering has been a time of worship for Christians in our area for more than 30 years.

Congregational singing will be interspersed throughout the service and attendees are encouraged to come and go as their schedule permits.

Dr. George S. Dillard III, Senior Minister of Peachtree City Christian Church, organizes the community service each year. Participating churches include First Presbyterian Church, Peachtree City United Methodist Church, Christ the King Episcopal Church, St. Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church, Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Christ our Shepherd Lutheran Church.

The service is a leading event during Holy Week in the Fayette County area.

A uniquely extravagant event is planned in the South Fulton area.

Resurrection House For All Nations, Union City, is coordinating a 20-mile-long Easter Parade Saturday. The motorcade will feature floats depicting the story of the death and resurrection of Christ from His arrival on a donkey, to His death on the cross, to His resurrection.

Pastor Chika Onuzo Sr. said the church plans to make this event bigger and better each year while touching lives and healing hearts by parading Christ’s victory in the lives of Christians today.

Anyone can join the parade. Cars decorated with signs and banners announcing how Christ has made a difference in a person’s life are encouraged. For more information, call 770-994-3777.
