Sue Monson
In December 2005, Sue Monson was installed as the 2006 President of the Fayette County Board of Realtors® , (FCBR). Sue has been a licensed Realtor® in Fayette County since 1994, and an active member of the FCBR for most of the past 12 years, primarily providing real estate services to clients in Fayette and Coweta Counties. In 1995 Sue was awarded the "Rookie of the Year" for the North Georgia Region of ERA franchises and is presently with Harry Norman Realtors® . Since then she has received the following real estate designations: Graduate Realtor® Institute (GRI), Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Accredited Relocation Specialist (ARS), Senior Marketing Consultant (SMC)-which is given to the top 20% sales associates within the Harry Norman Realtors® organization, and since 2001 has been an annual member of the FCBR Million Dollar Club.

Becoming aware of your local Realtor® board, and familiar with what they do, protects YOU the consumer in all of your financial real estate deals. This year, Sue wants you to become aware of what Realtor® members of the Board do to protect you, Mr. Seller and Ms. Buyer. Educating members and the public on the Realtors® Code of Ethics and Professional Standards are the goals Sue has set out to achieve throughout the county. She strongly believes in giving back to her Realtor® community and she wants you, the Public, to understand the difference between a real estate licensee and a Realtor® . Realtors® agree to abide by a strict ethical code and to arbitrate or mediate any business disputes that may arise with the real estate transaction, thus the difference being a matter of professionalism.

With close to 1,000 members at the Board, the standards that are set represent the professionalism that the FCBR expects of all of it's members. Our vision statement is:

'to provide the services and tools that maximize the actively involved and contributing members, productivity and profitability. At the FCBR, our goal is to ensure all Realtors® be given the tools to become professionals in their business.

The National Association of Realtors® (NAR) requires all members to complete a 3-hour Code of Ethics course, once every 4 years, which in essence requires all to learn “how to play well with others. “We strive to ensure that all new members complete the required new member orientation program and Code of Ethics course, within the new agent’s first 6 months in the business. Actively involved agents throughout Fayette County are influential in creating, implementing, and maintaining the many local, state and national laws and statues through their involvement with GAR and NAR (Georgia and National Association of Realtors® ). For instance, the major issue on the floor in Washington DC and locally is the fight to protect you, the home owner, against the possible abuses of Eminent Domain.

You, as a buyer or seller, should feel comfortable working with a knowledgeable, competent Realtor® . If you question this, please call the FCBR office.
