High school students were back in the classroom on Monday morning and some of the students were back on the ball field on Monday afternoon playing in significant region games or practicing for games to be played later this week. Starr’s Mill traveled to Sharpsburg on Monday to take on East Coweta (10-6) in a game that both teams and their fans were eagerly anticipating. The Panthers (17-0) won 10-1 with Ben Baker driving in five runs while going 3-for-5 at the plate. Scotter Houston also had a great day hitting for Starr’s Mill by going 4-for-5. Andrew Robinson picked up his sixth win on the mound with the victory. The Panthers will play at Fayette County today at 6 p.m. and will close out the first half of their region schedule with an away game at Newnan (8-10) on Friday at 7 p.m. Fayette County (10-6) faced Newnan on Monday and won 11-8. The win snapped a three game losing streak. The Tigers will host Union Grove (13-4) Friday night at 7 p.m. in 4-AAAA action, the three local teams are currently facing teams from the north sub-region. Sandy Creek (11-3), which went 3-0 over the break, traveled to Chapel Hill (1-9) yesterday afternoon after the paper went to press. They will host Douglas County (1-12) tomorrow and Alexander (12-2) on Friday. Both games are scheduled to be played at 5:30 p.m. In Class A play, Landmark Christian (14-2), which has won three games in a row, all by double digits, will host Whitefield Academy (3-7) today at 5 p.m. before traveling to Alpharetta tomorrow to take on St. Francis (5-8). Our Lady of Mercy (6-9) fell to Whitefield Academy 10-1 on Monday and played at Mt. Zion, Carroll (5-8) yesterday. They will also be on the road tomorrow with a game against Mt.
