The Peachtree City Library is seeking patrons’ input in a survey to help update its new master plan.

Today, the library is hosting a patron appreciation day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., where refreshments will be served in an effort to encourage patrons to fill out the survey.

Judging by circulation statistics alone, the newly renovated library is a big hit. Circulation is up 40 percent since the new library opened in October.

Library officials particularly want to know how patrons rate the collection, programming, facility, staffing and technology. In the last fiscal year, the library added 6,624 new materials including books and audio-visual items.

“We want to know if they like what we’re ordering, and where they think we need improvement, said Library Administrator Jill Prouty.

The master plan is important so library officials can conduct financial planning for now through 2010 and on a conceptual basis through 2025, Prouty said.

The results of the survey will be shared through the media, at public Library Commission meetings and through a presentation to the City Council in the fall.

A copy of the survey is available at the library. The survey can also be conducted online at www.peachtree-city.org.
