Stitt wins Director’s Award

Emma Stitt, a Junior at Starr’s Mill High School was recently awarded the Fayette - Coweta Family Theatre, (FCFT), Director’s Award at the group’s annual awards banquet. The Director’s Award is presented each year to a theatre participant who the Directors feel exhibits high moral standards, professionalism and dedication to the theatre arts and Fayette - Coweta Family Theatre.  This is the highest honor that any FCFT participant can receive. Stitt received the award from Tammy Barton, the President and Artistic Director of FCFT and Al Mindoro, former FCFT Musical Director. In describing Stitt, Mindoro said, “She has the voice of an angel.”

Stitt has been seen in many of FCFT’s performances, most recently as Cinderella in the educational performance by A Company of Friends (ACOF), the professional division of FCFT.  ACOF performs for local school children and educates them on live theatre performance. As Cinderella, Emma and the ACOF company, performed for 3,000 Coweta County school children in one day at The Centre for the Performing and Visual Arts in Newnan. She has also performed in FCFT’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “A Secret Garden,” “A Christmas Carol,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Velveteen Rabbit,” “Pinocchio,” and “The Enchantment of Beauty and the Beast. ”

 Stitt is the daughter of Evan and Susan Stitt of Peachtree City. She was recently awarded Second Runner Up in the Miss Starr’s Mill Pageant, and has been a Governor’s Honor Semi-finalist in Voice for the last two years. She is a member of the Starr’s Mill High School Chanticleer Chorus, the Jazz Ensemble, a member of the Starr’s Mill High School Beta Team, the National Honor Society and participates as a teen leader for the middle school group at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
