Heath named female student of the year

Jacksonville University senior Ashleigh Heath of Fayetteville, Ga., was named Female Student of the Year on March 15, by JU’s Women’s History Month Committee. Heath also received the first ever Dr. Frances Bartlett Kinne Award, a monetary prize for an outstanding female student. She was honored at the annual Women’s History Month luncheon, attended by more than 200 JU students, faculty and staff.

Heath is the daughter of Craig and Peggy Heath of Fayetteville. She attends JU on a Trustees Scholarship and will graduate in May with a degree in biology.

Heath is a community advisor in the JU residence halls, and a member of Green Key and the Dean’s List. She is the past president, vice president and treasurer of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. In 2005, Heath received the Residential Life Dolphin Award for outstanding leadership. Heath’s volunteer activities include Habijax (Habitat for Humanity) and serving as the executive director of JU’s Up ‘Til Dawn fund-raising team for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
