Bypass will hurt Tyrone

As a college student that commutes to Georgia State daily, I’m furious that our county government is constructing a new highway that will funnel a large amount of traffic from Fayetteville and Spalding County into the heart of Tyrone.
Anyone that commutes on Ga. Highway 74 knows that the last thing we need is the additional traffic from the east side of the county.
I’m wondering how many of our citizens in Tyrone actually know about this plan and its negative affect on us?
My class had a guest speaker from the state Department of Transportation that showed us how to look these projects up by county. It’s pretty clear that the highway is supposed to relieve Ga. highways 85 and 314 in Fayetteville.
What is our town council doing about this damaging project funded by our SPLOST funds? For those of us that depend on Hwy. 74, there are no good excuses for delaying our commute time by another hour everyday. The town council needs to take a serious look at this planned highway and what it would do to our future quality of life in Tyrone before it’s too late.
