Rhythm and Rhyme returns to the libraryTue, 04/04/2006 - 4:10pm
By: The Citizen
This year marks the fifth year that the Peachtree City Library has sponsored the popular poetry event, Rhythm & Rhyme. This annual event invites both sage and aspiring teen and adult poets to submit their best work to be considered for inclusion in the annual Rhythm & Rhyme chapbook, which will debut at the April 29 poetry reading event. The poetry event features those poets whose work has been chosen for publication in the chapbook and will also showcase the talents of local musicians. In addition to poetry, this year's event will feature the violin talents of Fayette County High School's Joey Karmakar; local guitarist, Tom Watts & Friends; and special guests, Southern Nights Chorale, a select men's a cappella group. Writers are encouraged to submit their work to what is expected to be the best ever Rhythm & Rhyme poetry event. The best works from all those submitted will be included in the book, published by the Peachtree City Library Corporation, a Friends of the Library USA affiliate. Those whose poems are published will receive one free copy of the chapbook and will be invited to read their work on the evening of April 29. Extra copies of the book will also be available for purchase by the general public. Request submission forms either in person at the library or via email, rwatts@peachtree-city.org. Entry is easy: Bring your submission form and up to three poems to Peachtree City Library's Circulation Desk or request a copy of the entry form via email and email it back with your poems. The form will be sent to you as a Word document attachment, which you can then fill in and return electronically along with your poems. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, April 12. The event will take place Saturday, April 29 at 7 p.m. login to post comments |
