Janice Sams Cole, 82, Fayetteville, died March 31, 2006. She was born March 5, 1924 in Fayette County, daughter of the late Ferrol Aubrey and Mildred Mathews Sams Sr. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Clement Cole Jr., and a sister, Jimmie Kate Cole. She was a teacher and registered nurse. She volunteered at Piedmont Fayette Hospital and at the Christian City Alzheimer’s Cottage.

Services were at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Westmoreland, and the Rev. Royeese Stowe officiating. Interment will be at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. at a later date.

Survivors include Bill and Emily Cole, Jasper, Dr. Frank and Deb Cole, Fayetteville, and Steve and Pat Cole, Newnan; grandchildren, Kathleen and Jay Greeson, Will Cole, Ben Cole, John Cole, and David Cole; a brother, the Drs. Ferrol and Helen Sams Jr. Fayetteville; and a sister, Sara Goza, Fayetteville.

Memorial donations may be made to the Joseph Sams School, 280 Brandywine Blvd., Fayetteville, Ga. 30214 or the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, 170 Lanier Ave., Fayetteville, Ga. 30214.
