Palm Sunday has double significance at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City.
Besides the historic important of marking Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on his way to die, it is the day many churches celebrate their young people becoming full members of the congregation.
At Christ Our Shepherd, 24 youths have studied for two years and have been approved for confirmation by members of the church council. On this occasion, called the Affirmation of Baptism, the eighth graders will publicly affirm their faith before the congregation at the 11 a.m. service in the sanctuary.
The youth will assume greater responsibility for their own spiritual growth while their parents and friends promise to continue to guide them. Weekend services will be at their usual times: Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. with palms and special music. Seating will be limited at the 11 a.m. service.
The church is located at 101 Peachtree Parkway, north. For information, call 770-487-8717.
