Thursday night was a big night for the McIntosh boys and girls soccer teams as they both defeated Woodward Academy. The wins created a three way tie for first between them, Whitewater and Woodward. The Lady Chiefs (8-5) won 1-0 on penalty kicks with a 4-3 advantage, while the boys won 3-0. Scorers for the Lady Chiefs in penalty kicks were Kerri Reid, Kelsey Quinn, Caroline Austin and Chelsea Clements. Scorers for the boys were Michael Mateos, Bilal Duckett and Allen Stien. Duckett and Mateos also recorded assists in the win. The girls, ranked sixth in AAAA, are now off until Apr. 11 when they host Lovett, while the boys, also ranked sixth, are off until Apr. 12 when they travel to Upson-Lee. Both the boys and girls are currently ranked sixth in Class AAAA. Leading the Lady Panthers, ranked fourth in AAAAA, were two goals from Gina Goforth and one from Katie Jacobsen. Carlie Banks, Tannah Castro and Laura McCalla all had assists. Katelynn Morgan allowed one goal and made one save and Allie Matulia made two saves. The boys, ranked fifth in AAAAA, got goals from Keegan Hanie, Chris Metzger, Sam Martin and Gray Phelps. Jesy Phelps and Metzger also had assists in the win. The boys and girls will be off until Apr. 11 when they play at Milton at 5:30 (girls) and 7:30 p.m. Whitewater’s boys bounced back from a 4-1 loss to Shiloh by defeating Creekside 13-0 last week. Matt McCrite had two goals and three assists, Ryan Pugh had three goals and one assist, Brain Forero had one goal and three assists, Kris Gilmore had three goals, Josh Adair had one goal and one assist and Chandler Caudelle had one goal and two assists. Zach Taylor and Mike Higginbotham each had a goal and Jordan Cooper, Kyle Weston and Andy DeBusk each had an assist. McCrite, Cooper and MacDonald combined for the shutout. The Lady Wildcats faced McEachern last week while the boys were playing Creekside and lost 3-2. Bailey Powell and Kayla Emerson scored the goals for Whitewater. The boys, ranked third in AAAA, will play at Lassiter on Apr. 11 following the girls game which begins at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Wildcats are currently ranked fourth in AAAA. Sandy Creek’s Lady Patriots (3-7-2), fresh off of a 1-1 tie against Cartersville on Wednesday were defeated by East Coweta 16-3 on Thursday. The Patriot boys team (6-6) defeated Cartersville 3-0 on Wednesday. The Sandy Creek boys and girls come back from the break and face Northgate on Apr. 11 and Woodward Academy on Apr. 12. Game times are 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and 6 and 8 p.m. on Wednesday with the girls playing first. login to post comments |
