Whitewater’s Wildcats picked up two huge wins recently. They defeated Douglas County 17-7 in six innings last week with Jonah Jaurigue getting the win on the mound, while Miles Head and Justin Carpenter were among the players who delivered the big hits. On Saturday, Whitewater got perhaps their biggest baseball win in school history by defeating Northgate 7-6. Tom Bohrer was the winning pitcher and Head, Carpenter and Jordan Elder delivered the big hits in the game.
The win over Northgate set up a three way tie for first in the sub-region between Northgate, Sandy Creek and Whitewater.

Sandy Creek (9-3) picked up two wins against opponents from the northern sub-region of 4-AAAA. The Patriots came back from a 3-0 deficit to beat Haralson County 5-4 and then defeated Lithia Springs 19-3. Robert Jaracz was the winning pitcher against Haralson while Duncan Midkiff got the win against Lithia.

So far this season, Our Lady of Mercy has shown glimpses of strong pitching, tight defense and timely hitting. Wednesday, they put it together for a 2-1 win over Whitefield Academy. On Friday, the Bobcats faced Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy and lost 12-2, making their overall record 5-6 and their region record 2-3.
David Bridier lead the effort against Whitefild by throwing four strong innings and Brett Bartles hit a game-winning home run, the first of his career.

“A tremendous team effort on the defensive side lead to our victory,” said Coach Lee McDermott. “Every player in the field contributed. David Bridier was outstanding and threw his best game of the year.”

Freshman William Pearl delivered the tying RBI in the fourth with an infield single and the Bobcats took the lead in the fifth inning when Bartles launched an 0-2 fastball to left for his first career homerun.

Jarrod Boccella relieved in the 5th and finished the game for his fourth win.

The game against Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy was close for a long time with the Chargers leading 3-2 heading into the sixth before they capitalized on a number of Bobcats mistakes and errors and added nine runs to their total.
