Patriots and War Eagles pick up region wins

Sandy Creek picked up two region wins this week. The Patriots (7-3) handed Creekside a 16-0 loss on Monday and then defeated Whitewater 9-4 on Wednesday. Tyler Betsill was the winning pitcher in the game and also drove in four of the Patriot’s nine runs. Other big hitters were Duncan Midkiff, who went 3-for-4 and Brent Brewer, who went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Sandy Creek hosted Haralson County last night after the paper went to press and will play at Lithia Springs on Monday at 5:30 before a double-header against Cairo on Wednesday at Middle Georgia College.
Creekside (1-11) followed their loss to Sandy Creek with a 10-2 loss to McIntosh on Wednesday night.

The Seminoles hosted Villa Rica last night and will play at Haralson County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Landmark Christian (12-2) faced Galloway on Thursday and won 14-4. Matt Moody was the winning pitcher and Brad Miller pitched two innings of relief, striking out four batters and not allowing a run.

Multiple hitters in the game were Michael Leonard, Miles King, Luke Griffith and Nathan Hunter. It was the 10th time this year that the War Eagles have scored double digits in runs. The win over Galloway improved their region record to 3-2.

Landmark faced Mt. Zion, Carroll last night. Mt. Zion is coached by former Landmark coach Kevin Nix. The War Eagles will play Our Lady of Mercy on the road next Thursday at 5 p.m.
