Finding Your Folks: A ‘geneapology’

To all my fellow genealogy enthusiasts and readers: My deepest apologies for the recent temporary interruption in the columns. Believe me, it was totally out of my control.

For those of you who may not know, on March 3 and 4 I suffered two heart attacks and was transported from Newnan Hospital to Piedmont in Atlanta where, on March 10, I underwent quadruple bypass heart surgery. I came home March 15.

A whole lot of stuff happened in between that I do not remember, but I am told some awfully good physicians took over and brought me through a rough time.

I understand that my surgeon, Dr. Morris Brown, is almost a legend at Piedmont and I was fortunate to have him.

I do remember my family being by my side in the CCU every time I woke up and the visits from the Revs. John Weber and John Hagen which I appreciate more than anyone will ever know. I am certain their prayers helped pull me through.

Aside from feeling like I have been hit by a Mack truck and left sore, breathless and drugged, I am fine and will be better, I am told. However, I discovered that despite my best attempts, I am not Superwoman as I thought and will have to take some time off from work to recuperate. I hope to return sometime in mid to late April. Until then, I will remain at home and may be reached at my personal e-mail, JodieK444@aol.com. For now, the jkilgore address is being used for religion, weddings, and birth announcements only. Many thanks to Joyce Beverly for taking the helm as religion editor during my absence.

Thank you to all who have sent cards, e-mails and flowers. Everything is truly appreciated.

We will pick up where we left off next month. Until then, happy hunting!
