I want to address several issues raised by my opponents in last week’s candidate’s forum
With respect to the issue of requiring bonding for capital improvement projects, there has not been a need to require bonds to pay for indebtedness for capital improvements since the capital improvement plan is based on projected revenues to ensure that capital improvements are provided at the lowest cost to the taxpayers and they are not burdened with the additional interest cost associated with bond funding.

With respect to erosion control, the town has an engineering technician to address the issue and ensure compliance and the town is in good standing with both the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission and the Environmental Protection Division of the state Department of Natural Resources.

I feel that the input of the citizens through a focus group being formed to give input on the downtown development plan for Tyrone and the comprehensive land use plan is a positive step in getting citizen input and involvement. My position is that Tyrone’s citizens and business owners should partner to help Tyrone continue to be the community the citizens want it to be.
