The Fayette County High choirs sang their way to superior and excellent ratings at the 6th District Choral Festival held at the Clayton Performing Arts Center. The groups performed two pieces for an audience and judges who critiqued their performances and rated each choir. The groups were also handed music they had never seen before and were judged on their skill in reading the music. Here is how each of the five choirs were rated: Bel Canto, Concord, Ensemble and Select Chorus each received a superior rating in performance and sightreading. The Treble Chorus received an excellent rating in both performance and sightreading. In addition to competition, the Select Chorus has been busy performing and raising money to benefit various nonprofit organizations. Recently the chorus performed along with the Southern Crescent Chorale, the Fayette Youth Chorale and the Sandy Creek Women’s Chorus at a concert held at Hapeville First Baptist Church to raise money for the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home. Over $3,365 was collected for the children. Director Janice Folsom and Associate Director Richard Prouty head Fayette County High’s choral department. login to post comments |
