Christ the King Church will host more than 100 members of the clergy and their wives as the Southeast Provincial Clergy Lenten Retreat comes to the area April 5-7. A bi-annual event, the retreat brings together ordained deacons, priests, and bishops from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee for three nights and two days of teaching, prayer and worship.

The principal speaker for the evening sessions will be the new archbishop of the Southeast Province, the Rev. Charles Jones of the Cathedral of Christ the King, Selma, Ala. Jones was installed as the Provincial Archbishop in December by Archbishop Randolph A. Adler of San Clemente, Cal., primate of the denomination. At least two other bishops will be in attendance at the retreat in Sharpsburg, including Bishop John Holloway of the Mid-South Diocese and Archbishop Douglas Woodall of the Archdiocese of the Armed Forces.

The clergy and wives will be meeting together for the evening sessions. On Thursday and Friday, the men will be in morning sessions at Christ the King Church and the women will be attending sessions at Faith Bible Church.

“We are very grateful to Pastor John Crotts and the people of Faith Bible Church for hosting our women,” said retreat host Father David Epps. “Their hospitality will help make this event a great spiritual success.”

The music on Wednesday and Friday evenings will be led by the 10 a.m. worship team of Christ the King under the direction of Father David Jones, Newnan, while the Thursday evening service worship will be led by Tom Johnson, Peachtree City, and the members of Christ the King’s early service worship team. Music is also expected to be provided by Deacon Gary Feister of Selma.

Christ the King, a member of the congregation of the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church, is located on Hwy. 34 between Peachtree City and Newnan.
