It is too early to say if the balance of power has shifted.

Friday night’s games between the McIntosh and Whitewater varsity boys and girls soccer teams were close and there is still a chance that these four teams will meet again in the region playoffs and possibly the state playoffs as well.

That being said, the Lady Wildcats 2-1 win over the Lady Chiefs and the Wildcats win over the Chiefs in penalty kicks are the two biggest wins in the history of these two young programs. In the girls game, McIntosh’s Brittany Schneider struck first but Emily Culbreth answered for Whitewater nearly a nminute later. Kayla Emerson scored the deciding goal for Whitewater with just under 13 minutes remaining.

In the boys game, the action went back and forth, with Whitewater striking first but the Chiefs keeping pace. The score was still deadlocked after two five minute overtimes and it took eight players for Whitewater to get a decisive win in penalty kicks.

Whitewater’s boys also defeated McMinn County, Tenn. 4-0 on Thursday and Lovett 2-1 on Saturday. The Chiefs beat Lovett 2-0 but tied McMinn 3-3 on Saturday.

The Lady Wildcats will take on McEachern tomorrow, while the boys face Creekside. McIntosh will host Woodward Academy tomorrow.
