The Whitewater Wildcats defeated Creekside Friday night 7-6 but had to come from behind to do so. The Cats received great pitching from Tom Bohrer, Mike Johnson and Nick Nieves but the defense struggled giving up six unearned runs.
In the first two innings the Wildcats gave up two unearned runs but came out hitting themselves. The Cats scored four runs and held that lead until the sixth inning when the defense went to sleep. The first four batters reached first on five errors and all four of the runners scored. Mike Johnson relieved Bohrer and put out the fire.

Nieves pitched the seventh inning and shut the door on the Noles. In the bottom of the seventh, Heine Rivera stepped up and hit a single knocking in a run and putting the Cats only one down. Jonathan Sholar scored on an error and then Nieves hit a single up the middle to drive in the winning run.

The Wildcats defeated Woodward Academy on Monday by the same score. Nieves picked up another win in relief and drove in a run, as did Jonathan Ashley, Braden Buckner, Miles Head, Jordan Elder, Dustin Davis and Mike Johnson.

Fayette County played two games at North Gwinnett High School on Saturday, defeating Peachtree Ridge 4-1 but losing to North Gwinnett 1-0. David Buchanan pitched a complete game against Peachtree Ridge, only giving up four hits. John Lees pitched a complete game against North Gwinnett, giving up three hits. Unfortunately, the Tigers couldn’t get a hit in the loss.

Sandy Creek hosted Northgate on Friday night and lost 7-5. The Patriots got RBIs from Robert Jaracz (2), Brent Brewer and Jameel Chambers, while Duncan Midkiff picked up the loss. The Patriots bounced back on Monday with a 16-0 shellacking of the Creekside Seminoles.

Our Lady of Mercy split two games over the weekend, losing a region match to St. Francis 4-0, and then rebounding for a 15-0 win over upstart Greenforest Christian Academy. The Bobcats couldn’t solve St. Francis’ starting pitcher, who cruised into the 7th inning with a no-hitter. Jarrod Boccella struck out six, scattered five hits and two earned runs over six innings.

On Saturday, freshman Robert Caruso pitched three innings to earn his first career victory, while Owen Anderson led a 12-hit attack with his first career homerun and 2 RBIs. Neil Renfroe pitched in with three hits and just missed hitting for the cycle.

McIntosh fell to Northgate 2-1 on Monday. Jake Tanis led off the fourth with a solo home run, while Brendan Hall struck out 10 batters, while allowing only two hits.
