The annexation of the “West Village” will one day soon be an old issue, whether it is built out in PTC or elsewhere. My preference is to annex with sound planning and expedite the MacDuff extension the final out come will be rendered. What is going to effect us in perpetuity is the development of the 74/54 arteries. It is imperative for PTC to have great input in the design and implementation of the overall plan. New construction must be built with frontage roads to allow limited egress and insure smooth traffic flow. Adequate room must be reserved for accel/decel lanes. Limited but synchronized signals must be designed in any plan. Proper landscaping is a must to insure that we are not another Buford Highway or Tara Boulevard. Our influence in this process will not come from alienation of our neighbors. The attendance of our current mayor at the local government association is at best very poor. Instead, Mayor Brown prefers to join MAMA (Metro Atlanta Mayors Association) with Shirley Franklin of Atlanta and the mayors of other cities that offer little help to PTC. Our relationships with local municipalities are strained and severed. I will rebuild these bridges of cooperation. Together with Coweta, Fayette, Tyrone, Senoia, Sharpsburg, Union City, I will work to restore a brotherhood of credibility and cooperation. All traffic doesn’t originate in PTC, but it sure seems to end here. It is vitally important that we work together and take an effective leadership role in our own backyard. We pride ourselves on being fiscally conservative taking personal responsibility. In the last four years our millage rate has gone up about 60%. Our people are hurting. Delta and United are laying off and cutting back. Household incomes are being decimated. What has been this administration’s response? Let’s spend four years talking about the last 12 years, let’s blame and say we don’t have to legally pay back money that was spent for PTC properties. When that doesn’t work let’s blame Fayette and tell them how they need voting districts when we don’t have districts in PTC. I am for doing the right thing and paying back money that Mayor Brown himself said was guaranteed at an Aug. 22, 2002, Special Called meeting of the PTC Council and Development Authority. I am for holding down spending and increasing our commercial tax digest with businesses that meet our standards. login to post comments |
