Locals have good times at meets last weekend

Sandy Creek and Creekside sent track athletes to the GATFXC Coaches Invitational over the weekend and the local schools were well represented against some of the top programs in the state.

Those who placed in the top 10 in their events were:

Boys high jump
• Montagious Brown, Creekside, 2nd, 6’2”

Boys long jump
• Dorrian Hankins, Creekside, 2nd, 22’3.7”
• Eric Berry, Creekside, 4th, 21’10.5”
• Christian Taylor, Sandy Creek, 10th, 21’2”

Boys triple jump
• Christian Taylor, Sandy Creek, 2nd, 44’9.5”

Boys 800 sprint medley
• Creekside, 7th, 1:34.86

Boys 4x100 meter relay
• Creekside, 4th, 42.88

Girls 4x100 meter relay
• Sandy Creek, 7th, 49.89

Boys 4x400 meter relay
• Creekside, 4th, 3:24.73

Boys 100 meter dash
• Eric Berry, Creekside, 6th, 11.14
• Dorrian Hankins, Creekside, 7th, 11.16

The Landmark Christian School varsity track teams recently competed in the Chedder Invitational in Milledgeville, GA. According to Coach Bill Thorn "both teams have improved greatly from the last meet."

The boys team finished fourth out of 11 mostly 4A and 5A teams, scoring 42 points. Scoring for the boys was: Brett Lewis (20 pts.), Jimmy Eden (16 pts.) and Tim Creamer (6 pts). The girl's team gave Stockbridge a run for first place, but had to settle for second with 89 points. Scoring for the girl's team was: Christian Hunnicutt (25.5 pts.), Heather Hayes (15.5 pts.), Kelsey Knapp (5.5 pts.), Katie Bulger ((15.5 pts.), Elizabeth Gresham (12.5 pts), Jessie Thames (5 pts.), Christian McGuire (3 pts.), Katie Mason (3.5 pts.), Joel Christian (2 pts.) and Kathleen Duncan (1 pt.).
