Rain in the morning on Tuesday did not stop anybody from playing baseball in the afternoon and the results were good for Landmark Christian but not so good for Fayette County. The War Eagles (11-1) won their third game in a row by defeating St. Francis 9-2. Trey Strickland was the winning pitcher and he, Miles King and Tommy Kinney each had two hits. Kinney also picked up the save in the win. Landmark, which is ranked eighth in Class A, will travel to Kennesaw today to meet the fifth ranked Mt. Paran team. This is also a key region match-up. Fayette County (7-3) faced East Paulding on Tuesday and lost 10-4. The two teams battled evenly for the first five innings but Tiger errors in the sixth allowed East Paulding to break the game open. The loss snapped a four game winning streak for Fayette County. The Tigers will play Peachtree Ridge at 3 p.m. tomorrow and will follow it with a game against North Gwinnett. Both games will be played at North Gwinnett High School. On Wednesday, Whitewater (3-4) defeated McIntosh (3-5) 7-4. The Wildcats got a complete game pitching performance from Justin Carpenter, who struck out nine, allowed three hits and only one earned run. Whitewater’s offense is being lead by Miles Head, John Sholar, Kevin Lewallen and Carpenter, all of whom are hitting above .375. Sholar has 10 RBI in the team’s first eight games. “We are a young team still finding our way,” said Whitewater coach Frank Dixon. “Tonight Justin became a varsity pitcher and beat a good McIntosh team.” Whitewater hosts Creekside tonight at 7 p.m. and McIntosh will host Woodward Academy at 5:30 p.m. Starr’s Mill will have a huge region match tonight as they play host to Union Grove (11-1) at 7 p.m., while Sandy Creek will host a big region match-up with Northgate at 5:30 p.m. Our Lady of Mercy will play at St. Francis (2-5) at 4:30 p.m. East Coweta (7-3) took on White County on Monday and won 11-7. Brandon Behenna was the winning pitcher and Chris Ramos and Ben Inman each had two hits. Ramos drove in three runs, while Inman drove in two. The Indians took on Central, Carroll (5-3) last night after the paper went to press. login to post comments |
