Coweta teams pick up wins

The Northgate boys and girls found themselves on the losing side of 2-0 games with teams from Fayette County this week. The Lady Vikings (5-6) lost to the Lady Tigers of Fayette County High School (7-4) on Tuesday, while the boys team (2-6-2) fell to the Starr’s Mill Panthers (7-2) on Wednesday night.
Last week, Northgate’s girls went 2-1 in the East Coweta tournament. The Lady Vikings defeated Mt. Zion, 15-0, lost to East Coweta 2-1 and beat Harris County 7-2. The Northgate boys went 1-0-2, defeating Mt. Zion, 3-2 and then playing East Coweta and Harris County to scoreless ties.
The East Coweta boys and girls went undefeated at the tournament. The boys (6-4-1) were 2-0-1, defeating both Harris County and Mt. Zion 3-0. The Lady Indians (11-1) were 3-0 beating Harris County 13-3 and Mt. Zion 15-0, in addition to their win over Northgate.

East Coweta will host Union Grove tonight at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. with the girls game coming first. Northgate will host Spalding at the same times and the girls will play first in that set up as well.

McIntosh’s Lady Chiefs (6-4) lost their second game in a row on Tuesday by falling to Westminster 2-1. They will play at Whitewater (5-2-1) tonight at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Chiefs are ranked third in AAAA and the Lady Wildcats are ranked fifth. The McIntosh and Whitewater boys will also face off tonight at 7:30 p.m. The Chiefs (5-2) are ranked third and the Wildcats (5-2) are ranked fourth. Last night, after the paper went to press, McIntosh hosted Lovett (6-1) and Whitewater hosted McMinn County, Tenn.

Sandy Creek’s boys and girls hosted Creekside last night.
