McIntosh freshmen making an impression

The McIntosh freshman singles players Marybeth Black, John Higgins and Austin Tilton have all made a strong start to the season. All have been playing tennis for many years putting in over 10 hours per week training and are experienced tournament players with state and sectional rankings.

Mary Beth Black the girls number one singles player is 5 -0 and plays in many national tournaments.

John Higgins has the boy’s best singles record this season at 6-0 and is a member of the Peachtree City Tennis Center’s “Performance Squad” run by Frank Ofori, a former Davis cup player.

Austin Tilton has the fastest serve on the team at approximately 120 mph. He trains at the Donald Young Academy in College Park.
Sophomores Davey Widfeldt and Jonathon Emmet have had strong wins for the boys at number one doubles and continue their partnership from last season.

Two tournaments and four games into the tennis season the McIntosh girls look strong. They had a great a win over Woodward Academy taking all five lines with Black, Stephanie Dauhenbaugh and Kendall Wilde all winning their singles lines convincingly.

The girl’s doubles pairings of Piester/Tufte, Vining/ Fisher and Plummer/Poffeuberger have also been dominant in their outings.
The Boys took all five lines over Whitewater, East Coweta and Fayette High with singles wins by Joe Styga, Tilton, Higgins, Will Truex and Josh Thompson, and doubles wins by Skinner/Taporia, Dunson/M.Thompson and Lacour/Koonce.

The McIntosh Team is captained by Styga, a senior (Boys) and senior Megan McPherson (Girls) and are coached by Coach Karcz and Coach Doyle.
