Dear legislators, our organization has been told by Anita Godby with the Fayette Department of Recreation that there is an issue with the Georgia Department of Transportation involving the entrance to the North Fayette park that is currently under construction.

This issue is reportedly holding up construction on the North Fayette Park project on Ga. Highway 279 near Kenwood Road. Previous delays have been attributed to weather and now the DOT is being blamed.

We are in desperate need of assistance in getting all problems resolved as soon as possible so that development of the park can proceed without delay.

A recreational facility in the North Fayette area is long, long overdue and want to ensure that funds for already earmarked for this park project are not being diverted elsewhere. Any and all assistance in expediting the completion of the North Fayette project would be greatly appreciated by the residents of our area.

The quarterly meeting of the North Fayette Community Association is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m. at the North Fayette Elementary School on Kenwood Road.

This could be our last meeting at the school as we are having to bear the burden of having to procure expensive liability insurance just for holding four quarterly meetings a year.

We had anticipated having the ability to meet at a building located at the new North Fayette Park but now we are looking for an alternate place to meet in 2006 until a building at the new park is built.

Additionally, efforts are being made to get boxer Evander Holyfield, bodybuilder Lee Haney and other well-known athletes who reside in the North Fayette area involved with this park project as well.
