Local writers and publishers offer expert advice at the Fayette County Public Library

National Library Week is April 2 through April 8. The Fayette County Public Library and the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library will host “Inside the Writers’ Studio” on Saturday, April 8 at 1 p.m. The event will feature a panel of authors and publishers from the local community and other parts of Georgia, and will take place in the Dorothea Redwine Meeting Room at the library on 1821 Heritage Park Way.

Featured panelists include Ken Babcock, a Fayette County resident and author of the newly published memoir “A Pilot’s Life: Hump Pilot & Crop Duster”; Kathaleen Brewer, director and curator of the Fayette Art Center and Gallery, and former screenwriter; Tanya Finney, a Fayetteville author and poet, whose first book of inspirational poetry, “Love Letters: Connecting the Heart of Man to God,” was published in February of 2006; Rita Herron, an Atlanta-area author of romantic thrillers, the most recent being “In A Heartbeat,” released this March; Carole Marsh, author and founder of Peachtree City’s Gallopade International, an award-winning publishing company with over 6,000 titles in print, including fiction and non-fiction for children and adults; Jo Rusin, a leadership consultant, retired Army colonel, and author of three books of nonfiction, including “Move to the Front,” an experience-based guide to thriving as a female leader in a male-dominated field; Tanya Telfair Sharpe, CDC research scientist and author of “Behind the Eight Ball: Sex for Crack Cocaine Exchange and Poor Black Women.”

Each panelist will discuss his or her individual experience starting and maintaining a presence in the literary industry. They will also offer advice and answer questions. Aspiring writers and all others are invited to attend this program which is free of charge and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
