Piedmont Fayette Hospital’s (PFH) Women’s Imaging Center has surpassed the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) for the eighth year in a row.

“This reaffirms the excellence of care that we provide to patients every day,” said Debora Coursey-Prah, M.D., a board-certified radiologist and the medical director of women’s imaging services at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. “We will continue to offer the highest quality of physicians, services and technology to Fayette residents.”

In 1992, the MQSA was established to ensure the quality of services at mammography facilities. This act requires all mammography facilities in the United States to be accredited by an approved body, certified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and receive an on-site inspection by a state agency acting on behalf of the HHS or by HHS inspectors. The law covers all mammography facilities, including those that examine Medicare or private pay patients and those that are only screening or diagnostic facilities. All facilities must meet the rules and tighter equipment regulations contained in the MQSA.

Piedmont Fayette Hospital’s Women's Imaging Center provides a range of Women’s health services including screening mammography, breast biopsies, breast ultrasounds, diagnostic mammography and bone density screenings. The Center is certified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and accredited by the ACR. Its team of board certified radiologists and mammography technologists are committed to providing compassionate and state-of-the-art care. The facility has the latest equipment and techniques to achieve early diagnosis and optimal treatment.
