If you think the rush hours in Coweta County are getting more crowded, you’re right.

In figures released by the U.S. Census Bureau Thursday, Coweta County emerged as the 68th-fastest growing county in the country. The Census Bureau’s estimate for the county’s population on July 1, 2005 is 109.903, which is up 4.3 percent over the 2004 estimate.

Coweta County has 4,508 more residents than a year ago and is continuing the growth spurt that accelerated during the 1990s and allowed it to surpass neighboring Fayette County in population.

But Coweta was not the only Georgia county that made the Census Bureau’s fastest growing counties list.

Eleven other counties in the state appear on the list, including Forsyth County, which grew at a rate of 6.4 percent and is the 12th fastest growing county in the country. Forsyth’s population is 140,393.

Others on the list include:
•Newton County at 14th.
•Paulding County at 15th.
•Barrow County at 20th.
•Henry County at 25th.
•Jackson County at 26th.
•Effingham County at 28th.
•Cherokee County at 30th.
•Douglas County at 32nd.
•Walton County at 40th.
•Bryan County at 91st.

The county that topped the list was Flagler County in Florida, with a 10.7 percent increase in population.
