Spring is coming and with it the excitement of school dances, formal events and prom.

McIntosh students, faculty and parents are teaming up this weekend in the name of fashion with a consignment sale and fashion show this Saturday.

The McIntosh High School football team and competition cheerleaders are offering the community an opportunity to sell and/or buy beautiful formal wear at their one of a kind consignment sale, “Instant Replay.”

“Instant Replay,” the first annual formal wear consignment sale will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at McIntosh High School in Peachtree City. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the McIntosh football and competition cheerleading program.

Consigned evening wear and accessories will be featured, and prices will be greatly reduced from retail. All clothing will be top quality, and many items have been worn only once. J. Andrews Bridal and Formal in Peachtree City will also have new merchandise for sale that day.

A $5 registration fee is required for all merchandise being sold to cover advertising and administrative costs. The consignor sets the price of his or her own merchandise and will receive 75% of the sale of their items.

The merchandise drop-off date is March 17 between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. at McIntosh High School. Items not sold must be picked up on Monday, March 20 between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. All unclaimed merchandise will be donated to the Well Spring Store in Peachtree City. Additionally a portion of the proceeds from Saturday’s event will go to benefit the Well Spring Store. For more information on the consignment sale and to obtain a consignor number call 770-487-0433.

The fashion doesn’t end there, however. The McIntosh Parent, Teacher, Student Organization will present their second annual formal wear fashion show, Fashionata '06, at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church Youth Annex, 400 Windgate Drive in Peachtree City, on Saturday as well. This year’s theme will be "Brunch at Tiffany's." Organizers will decorate the venue with a New York City skyline, a runway, white china, and Tiffany blue decorations. Doors will open at 10:15 a.m., and the show will begin promptly at 11 a.m. The show is scheduled to take about an hour and a half in all.

Last year’s fashion show operated under the theme “Springtime in Paris,” and was a success, selling out all seats and raising over $4,000 to purchase the school’s sign. This year organizers have set a fund raising goal of $4,500 to combine with a $25,000 donation received by the PTSO to improve the McIntosh courtyard. Students will buy picnic tables for the courtyard with this year’s proceeds.

PTSO officers are directly responsible for the show production and include co-presidents Morgan Flanders and Eryn Flanagan, and vice president Brian Huefner lead by their faculty sponsor, Jennifer Sullivan.

Sponsors for this year’s event include Catherine Cage with ReMax Around Atlanta Results and Cheryl Galvins with CruiseOne. The clothing will be provided by Banana Republic, After Hours, J. Andrew's Bridal, Bella’s and CAbi. Make-up will be provided by Paula Langworthy along with several other Mary Kay associates.

Students and teachers will model the latest casual fashions for spring and prom style, sophisticated evening wear. Coach Scott Schmitt and Caroline Schmitt will act as emcees for the fashion show.

Brunch will be served at the show, complete with homemade quiche cupcakes, croissants, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, and orange juice. A strand of pearls, donated by Dragon House Pearls, appraised for $1,600 will be raffled off as well as gift certificates, a prom dress, a tuxedo and several other exciting gifts.

Tickets for the event can be purchased today at the McIntosh High School front office for $15 or by calling Teresa Flanagan at 770-632-9023. Children under the age of two will be admitted free. Due to the popularity of last year’s event, tickets are expected to sell out prior to the start of the show and will not be available for purchase at the door.
