As I traveled our great county during this campaign, I have found some common issues among residents. What I found were families (both Democrat and Republican) fighting to maintain safe neighborhoods, committed to providing for their families, dedicated to teaching their children right from wrong. I’ve spoken with families who regularly attending faith-based institutions (churches, temples, kingdom halls, mosques, etc.) living out and practicing their faiths, and I’ve spoken with residents who do not want an unbalanced portion of taxes to come from property assessments. I have met citizen who want environmentally sensitive growth and who do not want to be choked off by traffic. I’ve spoken with families nervous about the prospects of what could happen with Delta, ASA, Ford Plant (Hapeville) and the GM Plant (Doraville). I have found seniors concerned about daily transportation needs. I have met Democrats and Republicans who believe we must maintain a healthy school system and not overcrowd it with unbalanced growth. I have met Republicans and Democrats who feel strongly about the need to support and finance our disaster preparedness plan. I have yet to meet a Democrat or Republican who believes anyone should go unrepresented in a democratic society. This is why I am asking each of you as vested stakeholders in the future of this county to join me in making a conscious effort to talk about the commonalities we share, and commit (recommit) to working on those together. With the background and skills I have forged in community development and organization, I truly believe I am the candidate who can pull us together to accomplish more than we could have ever imagined. I will work on behalf of all Fayette County citizens to: • Improve services to our seniors • Improve traffic flow on major corridors • Proactively manage growth • Form coalitions to develop initiatives to attract high income jobs to Fayette County • Explore ways to expand access to leisure and recreational activities in all areas of the county • Encourage open dialogue and cooperation among the county leaders, School Board members, municipal officials, state and federal • Ensure Fayette’s health and public safety agencies are prepared and have adequate resources to respond to emergencies and natural disasters May God bless you and please vote for me, Charles D.
