John D. Lyle

John D. Lyle, 84, Fayetteville, formerly of East Point, died Oct. 20, 2005, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born May 15, 1921 in Fulton County. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Seventh Armored Division of the United States Army. He participated in the Invasion of Normandy and spearheaded for General George Patton in the Battle of the Bulge. He was retired from Capital Auto Co. with 40 years of service. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Clarence Jett and the Rev. Norman Markle officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Frankie B. Lyle; a son, David Lyle, Roswell; a daughter, Vickie and Tony Richards, Fayetteville; grandchildren, David Richards, Dawn and Chase Middleton, and Morgan Lyle; sisters, Jean and Norman Ford, and Joyce and James Riley; and a brother-in-law, William and Alice Riley. Memorial donations may be made to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
