Wynnmeade officer defends her subdivisionTue, 03/14/2006 - 6:17pm

I would like to respond to all of the negative comments about Wynnmeade from the coward with the pen name “All Smiles” concerning the annexation of senior housing in the West Village. More than likely if you have lived in Peachtree City for as long as you say you have, you knew when you purchased your home that Wynnmeade existed as did many people that moved to this area from other places. That didn’t stop you, did it? Obviously the existence of Wynnmeade hasn’t harmed your property values. Here is what you should know: the process has already begun with new homes being built in our subdivision by owners that will live in those homes and there are people purchasing and renovating some of the older properties. I will always be the first to admit that we have had issues in the past, but I can also attest to the progress we have made because I have been in the thick of it. Over the years I have written many letters to The Citizen newspaper in an attempt to charter that progress, so that people like you (bigots) would be aware of the work that we were doing and our accomplishments. Those accomplishments consists of opening the doors to investigations by the Department of Community Affairs into the abuse of “section 8” programs throughout the city, exposing the slum lords in this community. By the way, you claim that all of the homeowners that live here are? That is certainly not true. The slum lords are people, who like you claim that Wynnmeade is such an undesirable place to live, yet they aren’t selling at a loss to get out. They are holding on to these properties with both hands and we all know why. Now that there is pressure from the residents of Wynnmeade and the city government, we are rapidly moving forward. I might add that most of your slumlords are so-called reputable, proper folks. Upstanding residents of Peachtree City. Business owners, attorneys and so on and so forth. I suggest that you take a trip to the tax office and see for yourself. I’m sure that would be entirely too much trouble for you. They rent to people whose only goal in life is to just exist, period. They have not and will not invest in improvements to the properties; your tax dollars keep them in the loop. If you don’t know, ask someone who does. Wynnmeade was instrumental in the renovation of Beaver Dam Park, we fought hard for it,and it has been adopted by our residents as is the cart path from this end of MacDuff Parkway. What is so amusing about you and your attitude concerning our community is that everything we do to improve our standard and quality of life is unselfishly done with the best interest of the entire West Village, and using all of the “legal” resources we have available to us. Yet you would advise others to take up firearms to protect themselves from what? Who from our community has threatened you or your family with violence? Think about what you say when you spew venom at our community. It sounds as if we need to protect ourselves from you. The truth of the matter is, and I value truth in every way, there are responsible, wonderful, decent, hard-working, God fearing, law-abiding, educated, family-oriented, young, elderly, middle-aged, and a melting pot of people living in Wynnmeade and they should not be condemned and criticized for the greed of money and inconsideration of the “powers that shouldn’t be.” Slowly, these powers will disappear. If and when that developer does buy us out, the eagle will fly high and his wings will spread wide, then I will purchase a home next door to you, All Smiles. Stay tuned, Peachtree City, it’s about to get very interesting. Merrilyn Arnold |
