Eva Ruth Smith, 74, Newnan, formerly of Fayetteville, died March 10, 2006. She was born Jan. 19, 1932 in Atlanta, DeKalb County, Ga. She was retired from Delta Airlines as an executive secretary. She had also worked for the Fulton County Board of Education. She was a member of Fairburn First Baptist Church.

Services were at the Fairburn First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Steve Batts officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill, Fairburn.

Survivors include her husband, T. Welton Smith, Newnan; a daughter, Judy and Glen Ratliff, Fairburn; grandchildren, Robin and Walt Sholar, Atlanta, Trent Ratliff, and Shane Ratliff, both of Tyrone; mother, Blanche O. Mowell, Fayetteville; brother, C. J. and Faye Mowell Jr., Fayetteville; and a sister, Georgia Mae and Donnie Brown, Sharpsburg.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Research.

Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.
