Promise Place

Plans are underway to get local churches involved in the movement to build an emergency shelter to serve the over 500 women who are victims of domestic violence in Fayette County each year. Currently, in an emergency, a woman and her children have no where to turn and must find help in other counties. Often, the shelters in surrounding counties are full and families have to travel hours to get to a safe place.

Promise Place, the Council on Domestic Violence that serves Fayette, is asking area churches to help raise the $200,000 needed to build a shelter.

Peachtree City United Methodist Church has been supporting Promise Place for a number of years. Recently, the charity was chosen by their Missions Team to receive a donation of $24,000 to kick off a church initiative with hopes that other churches will come forward and also get involved. A series of luncheons are being planned to invite church leaders and staff to meet and work together toward the goal of having a safe place for domestic abuse victims in crisis.

If you or your church would like more information or would like to have someone come speak about Promise Place please contact Promise Place at 770-460-1604.
