Fayette’s students dominate regional math competition

Fayette’s students nearly swept the 2006 Middle and High School Math Contest sponsored by the Griffin Regional Educational Service Agency.

In Division I (smaller schools) Flat Rock Middle took second place while Sandy Creek High and Whitewater High took second and third place, respectively, in the high school category.

At the middle school level in Division II (larger schools), J.C. Booth and Whitewater Middle tied for first place with Rising Starr Middle placing third. In the high school category, Fayette County High placed first followed by McIntosh in second place.

Middle schoolers swept the individual winners division with Zack Talley of Whitewater taking first place, Matthew Carlson of J.C. Booth coming in second and John Gray of Whitewater placing third. At the high school level, Nash Ditmetaroj of Sandy Creek placed first and Ashley Ellis, also of Sandy Creek, took third.

The Griffin RESA Math Contest is a regional competition among middle and high schools in the Griffin RESA region which includes the school systems of Butts, Fayette, Henry, Lamar, Newton, Pike, Spalding and Upson counties.
