I am Wendy Felton, a candidate for Fayette County Commissioner, Post 1.

My husband, Kenneth and I selected Fayette County as our home because of the quality of life it had to offer our family. The safe, secure neighborhoods, the clean, stable communities and the exceptional school system is something that all of us espouse and embrace.

Kenneth and I have been married for more than 20 years and we have two wonderful children. Clay is a sophomore in college on academic scholarship. Jonae’ is a freshmen at Whitewater High School and was the past president of the Builder’s Club at Whitewater Middle School.

My family has been and still is very active in leadership roles throughout the schools and community. My mission is clear and the resolve is strong, as your county commissioner, I am determined to provide:

1. Responsible growth and development

* Making sure the infrastructure is in place when taking the master plan for the development under consideration.

* Utilizing the professionals in the planning and zoning department.

* Supporting decisions that are made by the planning and zoning department as long as the community and its constituents’ best interest is kept in mind.

2. Manageable traffic

* Working diligently with the ARC, GDOT and Fayette County Transportation Department to assure that the best possible solution is provided to relieve traffic congestion.

* Researching and studying the Fayette County Transportation Plan already in place.

* Utilizing SPLOST funds allocated to repair, enlarge, resurface and add roads to alleviate congestion on state routes leading to major interstates.

3. Fiscal management of county resources

* Working diligently to settle differences of opinions through arbitration or mediation.

* Freeing up major tax dollars used to clog up court systems due to lack of communication.

* Utilizing tax dollars to keep neighborhoods safe and secure in Fayette County.

4. Providing approachable leadership

* Listening and responding to the concerns of the people.

* Organizing town hall meetings to stay in touch with the community and keep the community informed.

* Volunteering extra time in the community where necessary.

* Committing full time to the position and the constituents of Fayette County.

I promised to be an informed, fair compassionate and hardworking leader. So, on March 21, 2006 I am asking for you, your family and friends to vote Wendy Felton as your next Fayette County Commissioner.
